A row home roof
Most of a Philadelphia roof is the part you never see. Here it is, bottom to top.
The plywood or the old plank boards the whole roof is fastened to. Soft decking has to come off, and you only find out once the roof is open.
The first layer down on a flat roof. Everything above it bonds to this, so it is fastened, not just laid.
Metal where your roof meets the taller wall next door. On a row home this is where most leaks start.
The rubber or modified sheet that actually keeps water out, lapped and sealed at every joint.

Most of it is row home work: the flat or low slope roof over the main house, the pitched section at the front or over a rear addition, and the party wall flashing between you and the neighbour. Pablo and his team were great to work with. Super friendly and always very responsive and were helpful in assisting with the permit process for a full replacement of our flat roof in Port Richmond. We received a lot of photos from the job which is nice and reassuring since most homeowners aren't up on the roof during the job. Would recommend these guys for sure.
I had my entire roof replaced and couldn't be more satisfied with the high quality and "old school" work ethic of the crew. They were on time, efficient and very conscious of my vegetation during the removal of the old shingles and not unexpected but also the entire plywood needed to be replaced since this would have been the 3rd set of shingles on the original roof. The onsite supervisor keeps you up to date every step of the process with drone photos. I was promised the job would be done in a day and even though the plywood had to be replaced the crew worked until completion and cleaned up meticulously. Highly recommend.
